I've gathered mostly hardcover copies of classics that I'm rereading. As an English lit major, I've read many great works. But life gives us new eyes to see and every rereading is different. There is such wisdom for the taking, if we would put down our screens and pick up a book. Slip away for a time and listen to wisdom from years gone by. Your mind and soul will thank you!
When I was a young child, my mother would read to us, almost every day. One of the earliest books we read was the Iliad, then the Odyssey. It really influenced my love of reading and history for the rest of my life.
Reading was part of my childhood too, including the Brothers Grimm and a rebound ancient German Bible that my mother translated as we looked at the lithographs. We all became avid readers.
I’ve heard about most of these Classics, but have read very few! I can tell this is going to be a “connect the dots” series! Your knowledge of history, and foresight in understanding the massive benefits of learning these books will bring wisdom that is so lacking! When I was younger, I always wondered what I’d do when I retired? I never said it out loud, but I always wanted to just go to college and take any classes where I had an interest to keep learning! You’ve fulfilled my dream and I like the audible version because I can listen while I Quilt!
I could give you an hour but I'd rather spend my time reading than listening. Please understand, I'm not at all faulting your mode of presentation, I'd just rather read than listen.
I do, gently, fault your conclusion, I'd maintain one can have knowledge well equal to a doctorate with critical reading.

I too love books and collect the Classics. It is my hope to turn many onto the true pleasure found in the Classics!
Can you find someone filosophical dialoge between son and farher ( ancient?) Son was approbatur 14 years old. Was the father Augustin??

Fantastic! Good for your Mother. So many more to come!

I agree could most assuredly have a doctorate. My comment was just the equivalent of the specific 100 books I will share here
Thank you Jovan, It's been over 50 years since I've opened one of the Classics. Somehow a lot of life got in the way. It's time to refresh.
Thank you JoAnne
