Great Books of the Western canon and knowledgeable of the Great Ideas visited in the "Great Conversation" over the course of three millennia.
As I release this educational material, I think back to how easy it is these days to educate one ‘s self. In times past, you would have to have access to funds and influence to gain access to these works of classic and greatest literature.
Forty years ago, I began working on a project with my mentor which was the recording and documentation of the Greatest Teachings of All Time. Many institutions over the years have released many of these now out of copyright works and it is said, if you were able to retain a working knowledge of a particular 100 of the greatest books, you would have what would be considered a knowledge equal to that of having accomplished a master’s degree from a university.
Welcome as you join me on this journey to your self-taught master’s education. Putting in the time is up to you, but if you have less than an hour to listen, you have what it takes to begin and accomplish your master’s education.
I've gathered mostly hardcover copies of classics that I'm rereading. As an English lit major, I've read many great works. But life gives us new eyes to see and every rereading is different. There is such wisdom for the taking, if we would put down our screens and pick up a book. Slip away for a time and listen to wisdom from years gone by. Your mind and soul will thank you!
When I was a young child, my mother would read to us, almost every day. One of the earliest books we read was the Iliad, then the Odyssey. It really influenced my love of reading and history for the rest of my life.
